Child Safety Standards

This page explains Strings Network's standards on child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), how we enforce them, and how to report a concern.

Our stance

Strings has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation of any kind.

This applies to every part of our service — account content, usernames, referral activity, and any communication that occurs through the app. Any account found to violate this standard is removed immediately and reported to the appropriate authorities.

What this covers

Strings prohibits any content or behavior that sexualizes, exploits, endangers, or facilitates harm to minors, including but not limited to:

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form
  • Grooming, solicitation, or sexualized contact directed at a minor
  • Usernames, profile content, or messages that sexualize a minor
  • Any attempt to use Strings to identify, contact, or arrange contact with a minor for exploitative purposes

Strings is intended for use by adults, and node creation requires meeting the minimum age required in your region.

How we enforce this

  • Immediate removal — any account confirmed to violate this policy is permanently removed, without warning.
  • Reporting to authorities — confirmed CSAM or exploitation is reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement, as legally required.
  • Preservation for investigation — where legally permitted, we preserve relevant account data to support law enforcement investigations.
  • No appeals for confirmed violations — accounts removed for CSAE violations are not reinstated.

How to report a concern

If you encounter content or behavior on Strings that you believe violates this policy, report it immediately using either method below.

Use the report option on the relevant account or content. Reports are reviewed as a priority and typically actioned within 24 hours.

Include as much detail as possible — username, screenshots, and a description of what you observed.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact local law enforcement first. You can also report CSAM directly to NCMEC at CyberTipline.org or by calling 1-800-843-5678.

Cooperation with authorities

We cooperate fully with law enforcement and child safety organizations investigating CSAE. We respond to valid legal requests for account information in connection with these investigations, consistent with applicable law.
